Getting out of your Home
Instruct your family in a pre-arranged evacuation plan

Have an escape floor plan. Show window, door and stair locations. Discuss alternate escape routes. In the case of a fire, you should know of two ways out of every room. Select a place outside for everyone to meet in the event you need to evacuate.

Once Out - Stay Out!

Discuss How You Can  Escape

Sit down with all the members of the family and discuss escape routes to the outside from every room in the house, especially the bedrooms. Then, in the case of a real emergency, as soon as smoke or fire is detected, you should be able to move quickly and safely.

Most fatal home fires occur while people are sleeping. Make certain that everyone sleeps with their doors closed. If fire strikes, the closed door protects the occupants from heat and smoke.
