Incident Closes 422

This morning at 1105hrs Squad 58 (Sanatoga) and Engine 59 (Ringing Hill) were dispatched to a report of a truck down the embankment off of Route 422 EB. Shortly after, additional notes were received reporting entrapment adding Rescue 69 (Pottstown). Chief 58 arrived to find the driver self extricated from the truck with assistance from bystanders but was stuck on the side of a steep embankment and added Squad 51 (Limerick) to assist. Crews set up for a low angle rescue and hoisted the patient up the embankment using a stokes basket and rope system. Fire Police from numerous agencies assisted in closing Route 422 for several hours while Hawk’s Towing and Recovery and Dunnes Towing worked to remove the vehicle and while Penndot inspected the bridge for damage. Crews from Sanatoga and Ringing Hill as well as Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department remained on scene for the duration of the incident with the last units clearing the scene just before 1800hrs.
