At 0208hrs, Township Companies were dispatched to a report of a Barn Fire in the area of Skytop Road and N. Sanatoga Road. Lower Pottsgrove Police arrived to find a working barn fire in the 1000 Block of N. Sanatoga Road. DC58 arrived and assumed command and requested multiple tankers due to a lack of hydrants in the are while Quint 58 stretched an attack line and knocked down the 1st floor fire. Crews encountered heavy fire in the 2nd Floor Loft Area and backed out prompting the 2nd Alarm. Crews from Sanatoga, Ringing Hill, Pottstown, Limerick, New Hanover, Gilbertsville, Norco, Royersford, Upper Pottsgrove, Ridge, Trappe, and Perkiomenville worked for several hours to bring the fire under control with Sanatoga and Ringing Hill Fire Companies remaining on scene until approximately 1400hrs extinguishing hot spots and assisting the Lower Pottsgrove Twp. Fire Marshals and State Police Fire Marshal with their investigation. Thank You to Monarch Fire Company and Skippack Fire Company for covering our station while we operated on the fire scene as well as Lower Frederick Fire Company and Boyertown Area Fire & Rescue who also assisted in covering the area while we were on scene. Special Thanks to Lower Pottsgrove Roadmaster John Fogel for providing his expert backhoe operating skills to help pull apart the collapsed portions to allow safe investigation and total extinguishment of the fire. The fire was determined to be accidental and electrical in nature.
